Joe Gantly - Chief Executive Officer
Before joining SensL, Joe spent 15 years with Apple in Cork, starting as Systems Operations Manager before becoming Managing Director of European Operations including European Service and Support. Under his leadership over the last five years the Cork site has been transformed from a manufacturing location into a world class fully integrated operations centre which employs 1200 people. In the initial 10 years of his career he was employed by the Westinghouse Corporation in the Industry Systems Division in Pittsburgh from 1980 to 1983 as a Systems Software design engineer. The balance of his career in Westinghouse was spent in locations throughout Europe where he held a number of senior positions in Manufacturing Management, Quality Management and Operations Management. Joe is also currently the Chairman of the Cork Airport Authority and is a board member of a number of technology companies. Joe is also a Director and board member of the Cork Chamber of Commerce and the Tyndall Institute. His academic background is in Engineering (BA BAI Trinity College), Computer Systems (University of Pittsburgh) and Business Administration (MBA University College Galway).
Joe O'Keeffe - Chief Commercial Officer
Joe has considerable experience in high-technology start-ups having previously served as CEO of Pentus Technologies and COO of MV Technologies, both Irish start-ups in the Industrial Automation area. He most recently served as COO of NanoComms Limited, a UCC campus company set up to exploit technology for the biophotonics and biosensor markets. Prior to that he was Managing Director of the European arm of Inflow, a US based Data Centre and IT managed Services Company. He has also worked as a Business Development Manager with Motorola in Russia where he was responsible for the set-up of a JV and Motorola's first manufacturing operation in Eastern Europe. He holds a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering from University College Dublin, a M.Sc. in Computer Applications from Dublin City University and an M.B.A. from Dublin City University.
Dr. Stephen Keeney - Chief Operations Officer
Dr. Stephen Keeney has worked in the high tech industry for the past 15 years. He graduated from University College Dublin in 1988 with a 1st Class Honours in Electronic Engineering (BE-Electronic) and received a Ph.D (Microelectronics) in 1992 from the NMRC in University College Cork. Stephen spent 12 years working in Intel Corporation's research and development facility in Santa Clara, California, working in process technology development, product design, device characterization, product engineering, and test development. He was the Program Manager for Intel's 130nm and 90nm flash technologies, holds six patents, and has authored more than 20 publications and books. For three years Stephen had corporate responsibility for Quality and Reliability across the entire global manufacturing network supporting Intel's flash memory business with an organization spread across the US, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Stephen joined SensL in early 2008.
Dr. Carl Jackson - Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Carl Jackson graduated with a B.Sc. with Senior Departmental Honours and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University, South Carolina and a Ph.D. in Microelectronic Engineering from University College Cork, Ireland. His research has focused on low light level detectors for DNA/protein microarrays, low cost optical immunoassay instruments, integrated microfluidic sensors, CMOS-SOI-APD integration and fully integrated electrical/optical detection platforms. He has published 2 patents and over 30 journal and conference publications in areas such as oxide breakdown and gate dielectric reliability, photodetector fabrication and design, and novel sensor integration. Carl is founder and was Managing Director of Photon Detection Systems Ltd., an Irish based consulting firm specialising in the development of novel optical sensors and the design and production of custom optoelectronic modules.
Dermot Berkery - Director
Dermot joined Delta Partners at the start of 1999 as a General Partner. He serves on the board of Similarity Systems, Seewhy Software and SensL. Before joining Delta, he was a Senior Manager with McKinsey & Co. Having worked in McKinsey, Atlanta for 4 years, he returned to Dublin in 1995 to grow McKinsey's presence in Ireland. From 1995 to 1998, he helped Irish companies in a range of sectors to develop and pursue accelerated growth strategies. Prior to McKinsey, he was a Senior in the Corporate Financial Services Division of Arthur Andersen in Dublin and London, where he specialised in financial restructurings.
A graduate of University College Dublin in Commerce, he holds an MBA with distinction from the Harvard Business School and is qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
