Photon Counting and Timing Systems
A family of photon counting and timing systems ranging from the world's smallest and lowest cost photon counting device, the PCDMini, which is optimized for high volume commercial OEM applications, to the world's first intelligent multi-channel photon counting and timing system, the PCMPlus, with an integrated counter, timing electronics and USB interface. SensL is the first to include high end microprocessing power inside its low light sensing modules. Controlled via a Java based graphical user interface SensL's products can be directly integrated into low light sensing applications without the need for additional counting cards or data analysis software. An example of the benefit of this integration is evident in the PCMPlus, which integrates high level functionality such as Time Tagging with 2.5ns resolution, Time Binning Multi-channel Scalar/Averager (MCS/ MCA) and Time Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC) into a single convenient plug and play system. The new HRMTime introduces a <100ps timing resolution option in addition to the other PCSTime functionality described above.
Complementing its photon counting solutions SensL, in conjunction with leading educators in the field of photoelectronics, has produced a number of Photon Counting Educational products. SensL's Educator Packs include lectures, associated lab experiments and SensL photon counting products and are ideal for university educators wishing to establish a degree level module in Photon Counting and Timing. They are also suitable for companies and research institutes looking to quickly come up the learning curve in this exciting new technology.
Note on Photon Counting Mode: Photon Counting mode implies a photodiode operating in Geiger mode with an appropriate quenching mechanism resulting in an digital pulse at the output for each photon detected. Typical examples are Photon Counting PMTs and Geiger mode/Photon Counting Photodiodes (from SensL). System integration requires pulse counting and data acquisition hardware and software to count these digital pulses. Photon time of arrival information is available from the time of the digital pulse if the hardware is sufficiently fast.
PCDMini - High Performance Photon Counting Device
SensL's PCDMini Photon Counting Device is the first miniature photon counting system on the market and features SensL's new quenching architecture with optional snap-on boards for enhanced functionality. The sensor is hermetically sealed and available with an optional add-on cooler board for applications that require extremely low Dark Count. In addition, an optional snap-on USB Interface Board is available which significantly simplifies the task of integrating the PCDMini into any measurement system. Its integrated counter functionality eliminates the requirement for a separate data acquisition system. This ease of integration, combined with the compact and miniature form factor of the product makes the PCDMini the ideal photon counting solution for OEMs.
HRMTime - High Resolution Timing Module
SensL's HRMTime module is the first USB high resolution photon timing system on the market. It is a highly functional system incorporating all the high end photon timing functions in an easy to use, flexible and high performance system. Most importantly its novel timing circuitry enables a photon timing resolution of <100ps and it is available in one, two or four channels. The system design is optimised for SensL's Photon Counting sensor products but is also compatible with any photon counting sensors. Offering Photon Time Binning, Photon Time Tagging, Multi channel Averager/Scaler, Multi Dimensional Time Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC) and Auto/Cross Correlation functionality in a single platform together with a range of display, statistical analysis and data export tools (via the SensL Integrated Environment software).
